You are a California notary whose state requires you to notarize in black as you have stated . . .well then black ink is what you need to use. Let the grandchildren do their crafts with the other ones so they won't go to waste. Another great idea . . . go to your local craft store and purchase a few cheap little wood mounted craft stamps with fun shapes and carry them in your notary bag along with those colored stamp pads and let the kids at your closings stamp you some pictures as their parents sign their documents.
