I order two stamps with each commission, so I don't have that issue. I always have a fully inked back-up ready to go, so I never have to worry about a stamp wearing out. (Ordering another one, in between 4-yr commission renewals here, is pretty complicated in CA.) We don't have a choice about getting new stamps every time, though, because not only does our expiration date change, we're also issued a new commission number with each renewal.
