I think I understand your point, Marilynn, but I believe it would be a good idea to be a bit more careful with wording. For example, saying that "it's a known fact..." could be considered libelous. A more accurate statement might be "it's a common belief...", regardless of who told you what. None of us are psychologists. We have the right to express our opinions, but I think we should be very careful about distinguishing fact from opinion.
Describing specific behaviors that one has a problem with is fair game, imo, but as has been said in discussions on other topics involving other people, it's always a good idea to try to separate the person from the behavior, and limit negative comments to the latter. That's my personal bias - and what I believe is a very useful guide when trying to keep a discussion from sinking to a level that I'd like to believe most of us would prefer be avoided. |
