A good mentor is priceless.

I've gained plenty of insights here to help me run a smoother operation. Of course, what is lawfully done shouldn't be confused with Best Practice. Something like, say keeping a journal is surely best practice for notaries but doesn't necessarily make me a better notary than my peers. I designed a "state of the art" journal (which I use) but can't force colleagues to embrace, mainly cuz we aren't required to keep one. Besides, as great as I may believe it is I can bet with confidence that our notaries would find stuff they'd probably change or record differently.
