It would have made sense for the parked car to wait for incoming traffic to clear before pulling out. It seems that you being 'courteous' to the parked person (for the sake of getting that parking spot) in turn means you held up the flow of traffic, and were 'discourteous' to those that had to wait behind you. "looked as though beer is their daily bread, and dressed very sloppily" seems judgmental and frankly snobby.
I think in today's day and age, you were lucky that he was albeit "a pig", he didn't turn out to be a violent "pig" and either deck you or pull out a weapon.
You can be as uppedy as you want; but not everyone is going to feel contrite by your words. In my neck of the woods, getting my business done would trump candy and flowers. And I'd be pissy if someone made it so obvious they were judging me by what I'm wearing and what I'm driving. Never mind that I drive a new car and dress well :0)
Just my impression, maybe it's the way I read your post. |
