My first step would be a letter of demand and include that if I did not have money in hand within 5 days of the date of the letter, I would be sending a complaint to the California State Bar.

The Bar has to complete an inquiry and it is not taken lightly. My boss (attorney) defends County and State employed attorneys with these and they require a lot of time and effort to respond to.

I'm sure Ms. Bronner will respond to you very quickly. If not, then complain to the State Bar.
