Yes, call your hiring party immediaely. It is the hiring parties call to use credible witnesses or not.
You do NOT bring the witness. The witness(s) must personally know the borrower. The borrower must arrange for who will act as their credible witness.
The Oath below is what I use. My "Quick Notes" are listed below too.
CREDIBLE WITNESS OATH
Do you swear under oath that you will tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? (response)
Do you affirm that you do not have a financial interest in and are not a party to the underlying transaction? (response)
Do you know the identity of the person sitting before you? (response)
Please state their full name. (response)
NOTES: Raise Right Hand Identify witness(s) with proper ID Journal: Input all witness ID info and have them sign Journal too
If the ID was lost or stolen recently and borrower can not get a proper ID then for me that is a very good reason to use credible witnesses.
I would suggest reading up on using Credible Witness in your California Handbook before our assignment.
Good Luck
