can't hire me without direct TC authorization. All I'm really saying is we can only act in the capacity as a notary witness unless other authority is granted by State and licensed T.A. When they hire us, SS or TC must understand this.
BTW, I finally found the NC forum thread and notary starts off saying: NC is an attorney state.
Then she follows your ?Q of When did NC become an atty state with the comment: "According to the NC State Bar all closings in the state of NC must be supervised by an attorney. . . Nearly every closing I do either has an attorney I can call if the consumer has a question, or calls in at the beginning of a closing to introduce themselves and let the consumer know they are available if needed."
What I read here is NOT the same as atty-only (and non-notary), as most of us have had the experience of an atty at the ready available by phone when doing signings for such State properties. Probably a whole 'nother topic on what does "Attorney only" really mean . . . |
