It amazes me how many of the loan officers tell people, "You don't have to get a copy of your ID, the notary will take a picture on her phone and send it. I WON'T do it! Generally, the people are OK once I explain why I won't. If there is no other way, I tell them to take the picture and email it to me. Only slightly better that way. No way do I want a picture of someone's ID on my phone.
Besides I really do resent L/O volunteering me for extra work (and liability) and no extra compensation. Guess they're afraid that the people will get mad and not take out the loan if they have to have a photo copy of their ID. |
