I have no idea how fees vary across the U.S. We pay more for everything in CA. I've always paid around $500 a year for one 1040 and one self employed schedule. It's the best money spent, but then if you're audited, well, the sky is the limit. My last IRS audit cost $2500. And that was the very best money spent cuz Uncle Sam was after $40,000 they were disallowing in mileage deduction.
