Thank you notarydl/CA, and all, for posting your sweet comments. It means so much to me to hear this because I have a 25 year old granddaughter who was disgnosed with autism at the age of 2. She rarely speaks. She, too, is very loved by our family. Some parents can handle the stress involved and stay together to fight for the child's livelihood, some can not handle it. These children are SO smart and that is what is the biggest misunderstanding about them.
They deserve the same attention that any one does, so feel free to always speak to them as if they were a typical person. They may not respond but at least they hear your words and appreciate your observance of them.
