filled in. I refuse to notarize unless it is filled in at the time the seller is signing.
The way I found out about this practice was in a telephone call with a relo company. I had been called by a seller to "notarize some real estate documents" and when I arrived for the appointment was surprised by the detailed instructions regarding leaving the blank space on the deed to be completed later. The first thing the rep on the phone said was "Is this a one deed or two deed transaction?" She tried to pressure me into completing the notarization, but I would not budge. I even spoke to the relo company's attorney who tried to bamboozle me into compliance. The seller understood my insistence on following Florida law regarding incomplete documents and I ended up notarizing everything but the deed. |
