I know that FEMA and the Red Cross step in and do a lot. This is specifically for NSAs who want to get back to work. They are usually granted a housing stipent (rent) until they can get their homes rebuilt. That is what happened here.
One of my notary friends here in SB lost her home in 2008 in the Tea Fire. She bought a little storage shed to sleep in, but she needed so much. Someone gave her a travel travel to cook and bath in. (the best part about this story is she paid $100K for 20 acres, sold 5 acres with a rebuilt GREEN home for $1 million and moved to Davis where her kids live. Her home that burned was free and clear but her insurance was not enough to rebuild, and her son gave her $50K to augment the costs to rebuild.
This is a very difficult ordeal. I hope we can help NSAs get back on their feet.
