Thanks for the post. The key take away for me is "be flexible". Fees are low in my area and one never knows when/how the phone will ring. It is great your friend was able to get a job. Every notary/NSA has a different situation. I agree things have been bad in the past, but I have never seen fees drop so low and expenses increase so much. Most of the companies I work with will not negotiate, want scan backs, won't tell borrowers about witnesses and want notary to supply witnesses. If I lost my full time job today, I would have to do something else to supplement my notary business.
