One good thing about Costco is that you don't have to worry about them backing up their products. They may have checked the alignment when I bought the current set (don't have the new ones on yet, as they weren't in stock), but I didn't need to get one done. ( I think I may have had to in the past, though, with a previous car.) The Michelins on there now replaced the original cheap, new car tires that came with it. In fact, I haven't yet ever had to do an alignment on this car.
Fortunately, my tires aren't yet bald, just worn down to the indicator bar. I'm not much of a risk taker, especially when it comes to my safety, plus, since I depend on my car for work, I want reliable transportation. So I'm a big believer in preventive maintenance. I'd rather fix something a little sooner than absolutely necessary so I don't have to worry about a breakdown. I'm pretty lucky here, though, as over-heating isn't a common problem in my area... There again, with routine maintenance (and a good, trustworthy mechanic!), hopefully we can get hoses replaced before they break. We all know there are no guarantees, though... I bet lots of us have the Enterprise (or whatever) phone number in our Contacts list, just in case!
