I've always had more faith in Fedex's reliability than in UPS. For my area, Fedex seems to have more pickup locations, longer work hours and Saturday service. That faith has just slipped a notch or two.
Saturday I had two signings. Both for Fedex service.
First one, docs were labeled for Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Just a few docs in a Fedex envelope.
Second signing: docs going to Southern California; borrower and her LO asked me to include her <<original>> Trust (in a very nice padded binder) with completed package. Borrower didn't want to take binder apart to copy approx. 4-5 inches of paperwork. I explained to them that I would take entire package to Fedex for them to issue appropriate box and packaging but that once I handed Fedex the package and got a receipt, the responsibility of that Trust transferred to Fedex.
Got to Fedex hub in Rocklin before 2:00 and they boxed it, I enclosed the refi docs, they taped it (lots of tape) and then I handed her the label, which she attached. I handed her the other package for Hawaii. She handed me a receipt for both. I asked if packages would be delivered Monday and she told me they would by 10:30. As of this moment, neither package has delivered.
The hub's last pick up is posted at 5:00 pm on Saturday. Rocklin is 25 miles northeast of Sacramento. Fedex tracking shows boxed package went from Rocklin to Oakland to Ontario and now at its destination in Corona. Hopefully, to deliver within the hour. Other package shows from Rocklin to Memphis, TN and left there this morning. No scheduled delivery date at this time. Taking the scenic route?? ;(
