That's fair.......not knocking anyone's POV nor debating whether it's right or wrong to accept these types of assignments. My points are solely that we're hired as disinterested third parties because folks can't (or won't) read directions, follow instructions to the letter, and protect the integrity of the docs or product. If they did, notary signing agents wouldn't exist. Notaries are perceived as trustworthy because we're public officers of our respective states. We are commissioned, bonded and background checked (some states) and insured (business liability / E & O related to notarizing).
If companies wanted couriers, Uber drivers, burger flippers, or whomever else as disinterested third parties to be their agents and operate on their behalf, they'd contract with them. The beauty of being an IC is that we can accept/decline assignments are our discretion. I don't do debt consolidation jobs at all. Other offers will be scrutinized and reviewed as they cross my path. jmo |
