Saw report tonight on NBC the full report about an hour ago of this same exact scam. The 222 is only one area code they will use for this scam. There are more than a dozen area codes to watch out for. I guess we have to wait for a second ring now. I have all if not most of my regular clients in my phone book. This really puts me on alert for general notary work thou. Two rings then look at area code, then pick up phone. Gone are the days of automatically picking up the phone and saying..."Pacific Coast Notary". I may have to start checking every area code except my local ones. Same when thinking of returning a call. If I don't recognize an area code I will have to look it up. |
