I think the insurer *must* cover the claim if the

policy was in effect at the time of the "event". Just because, 5 years after the fact, you no longer carry E&O is not a viable reason to deny coverage - the company *did* cover you during the period during which the event occurred. Policies are "claims occurred" - at least mine is..which I got here.
