I've been there - I call the hiring party, explain my demographics and tell them it's imperative I make contact prior to the closing. I assure them I will not discuss loan details on the phone but I *must* speak with signers to confirm certain matters and get precise directions. (many places around here don't show up on GPS or signal is lost in various spots).
If hiring party can't understand this...give it back - and the hiring party needs to walk a mile in our shoes.
As for Pegi's situation...what happened to her only reinforces the importance of prior contact - no fee is worth what she went through and was subject to...she's damn lucky she was able to get out of there - so IMO prior contact is mandatory or reassign it. |
