companies are grasping for every last cent they can keep for themselves. Tltle has the ability to pay the notary properly and charge the client. Your fee was very reasonable, even if you didn't have to drive any distance. It's getting ridiculous.

The latest scam (and they try to "hide" it), is that some (not all) title companies form a separate "division" or "department" which has it's own profit center, which "locates" notaries (looking them up on 123 or this site for example), hires them at the cheapest rate possible, and makes an additional profit from this function as well. Many of the settlement statements show $200 for Notary, yet we were hired directly by title (or so one thinks) but we only get whatever the offer is, like $100, $90 or whatever. Where does the remaining $100+ go......guess.
