When it comes to fees directly from a title company, our thinking should NOT be starting @ around $100! IMO, it should be higher, regardless of where you live. This is one of the factors that's influencing the reduction in fees, especially from direct clients. Ask them what they have quoted on the CD. It may be way more than you were about to quote them if/when they ask you what your fee is. At least make an attempt to negotiate!
If your thinking is at the low $1XX level, you're probably leaving money on the table - and you're adding to the overall downward pressure on fees throughout the industry. Think about it... When there's no ss in the middle, why shouldn't you be getting whatever fee they'd be paying to the ss, at least? That's the primary advantage of working direct, after all... |
