On Halloween 2022 I attended by Zoom the very first Vermont mandatory continuing education, put on by the Vermont Bar Association. The speaker, Jim Knapp, is a real estate lawyer with three decades experience, who has worked for title companies among others.

Mr. Knapp, as part of his presentation, stated that when relying on a credible witness, the notary should administer a verification on oath or affirmation to the witness. Then, the notary should keep the verification in the notary's records.
