you should get a look at Stephen Miller, Trump's senior adviser. On the Sunday news shows, he was practically foaming at the mouth. Guess what new character SNL will have this week.
He got into it with George Stephanapolus (sp?) over voter fraud. When George asked him about it, Miller said.“George, it is a fact and you will not deny it that there are massive numbers of non-citizens in this country who are registered to vote”.
First of all, it's not a fact - as George immediately and correctly pointed out, no evidence has ever been presented to support this. The allegation started off as a Twitter post from some blogger who said without providing any evidence whatsoever that he had somehow amassed a database of 3 million illegal voters. This was picked up by Infowars, and then spread to other questionable "news" sites such as Breitbart and Drudge Report, and then finally caught the attention of Trump - the only candidate in the history of our country who has continued to complain about an election he won 3 months ago.
More troubling is this: "it is a fact and you will not deny it". Not "cannot" or "should not", but "will not" - as if he can order the press to report the truth as the Trump administration sees it. He actually said it that way more than once. Very "1984". George finally cut him off and dismissed him, telling him to come back when he had actual evidence.
This guy Miller is a real looney-tune. The press is not going to stop denying the "facts" that come out of the WH; if anything, they are going to step up their efforts to get to the truth. I may have said this before but as Mark Twain said, "Never pick a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel". |
