It appears that this was more symbolic than anything else. Assad flipped us the bird by sending jets out of that same airfield the next day to bomb more civilians. Cratering the runway may have slowed them down a bit, but Assad is clearly not intimidated by Trump.
And Trump has been playing golf again for the past two days. Imagine that - two days after launching a military attack against another country, he's out playing golf.
I'm not sure what kind of message THAT sends to us or the rest of the world, but it's pretty clear he's either totally clueless or doesn't care about how his actions will be perceived. Life in Trump World is a reality show - if things go wrong, the director yells "Cut!" and you just do another take.
