Defective firearms are the only item that cannot be recalled

by a government agency. Various agencies can issue recall notices on every product that is found to be defective, except for firearms. In fact, the law that created the Consumer Product Safety Commission specifically exempted gun manufacturers from the commission's oversight, due to concerns about the Second Amendment. So gun manufacturers are expected to police themselves - guess how that has worked out.
As just one example, Taurus International, a gun manufacturer, sold over 1 million handguns that have a major safety defect. It took a class-action suit for them to agree to recall them here in the US. The video below was created by a Brazilian police officer to show a Taurus 24/7 handgun firing two full ammo clips without ever once pulling the trigger, including with the safety on (after loading the second clip, he repeatedly points at the switch each time and says "travada", which is Portuguese for "locked").
This is nuts. If ANY product, including a firearm, is found to have a dangerous defect, the government should be able to force the manufacturer to recall it. This has nothing to do with Second Amendment rights.
