And?

He's a highly-trained School Resource Officer (SRO) who, to his immense credit, did exactly what he was trained to do - something most civilians couldn't do - shoot another person. This certainly doesn't support the argument that we should arm teachers. More guns in school is not a solution, but more trained and professional SROs could be a stop-gap until the country comes to its senses about gun control laws.

These incidents will continue to happen until we stop relying on thoughts and prayers and start providing policy and action.

It's not clear yet what type of weapon was involved, but a high school student should never have been able to have access to any gun without adult supervision. You want your kid to be able to hunt with you? No problem, but you're responsible for what he or she does with that right.

Gun control works - Australia has proven it. Since banning semi-automatic rifles and shotguns in 1996 after a mass shooting, they have not had a single mass shooting incident. We have several a year.

Meanwhile, Australians are still free - with a proper license - to own weapons for hunting and personal protection. Gun control works there, so why can't it work here?
