I agree with sigtogo - we need sources. Not saying you're wrong, but there's a lot of stuff flying around lately and we don't know how much of it is fact and how much of it is opinion. I agree with you that it seems like a publicity stunt and he really doesn't care about national security, but we need to apply the same standard we demand of others who don't agree with us - cite your sources.
As far as the wall is concerned - everyone needs to know that it was always just a diversion. it will never be built, no matter what Trump says or does, no matter whether or not Mexico pays for it. The reason is simple - eminent domain.
Much of the southern border runs across Texas, and most of that borderland is private property. The government must acquire that land before it can build a wall on it, and they can't do that by presidential fiat - it requires a messy legal process known as eminent domain, and we're talking YEARS of litigation. The last attempt to build fencing on the border was during the Bush43 administration, and more than a decade later there are over 100 lawsuits that are still being litigated. Trump will be a footnote in history by the time the lawsuits over his attempted landgrab are settled, and by then we'll have a president who has come up with a solution that is not from the Middle Ages.
