It's been my understanding that whenever a user posts publicly using an alias that we should respect that choice. That doesn't mean they can't chose to post PMs using their real names. But the expectation has always been that that info would be respected and kept to oneself. I make it a habit of always referring to posts by others using their forum alias unless they have their profile linked. To me, this seems like basic common courtesy and common sense. If people want their real names made public, they can link them, but I think most would agree that it should be their choice.
This is the second time is recent days when I've noticed that you've publicly used the name of a poster who uses a private alias on the public forum. I don't support the personal comments that were made in the above post you're referring to (I don't support ANY personal comments made on this forum), but I do strongly recommend not "outing" people publicly. It's not the kind of think one does to someone one considers a "friend".
