My eye surgeon spent a good deal of time with me making the right decision on the correct lenses to insert in my eyes. A toric IOL is a premium intraocular lens designed specifically for patients with astigmatism. A toric IOL will correct vision for both astigmatism and distance vision but I will need to rely on glasses for near vision.
I'm delighted with the results. Colors are fabulous. Out of pocket for laser procedures and synthetic lenses were just under $9500. Glad I did it.
I've lost two friends recently to cancer, both were smokers, 60s MJ use and both outdoorsy, little attention paid to sun blockage/eye care in teen years. One was 60, the other, 72. I have another friend who just learned during her eye exam that she has a tumor growing on her eyeball, and she's on her way to Stanford in the bay area today for more in-depth examination and diagnosis. She is only 60, never smoked, but an equestrian, outdoors lady. Lots of sun exposure.
Something is bound to get us. I think if we make it to the 70s, we're still here, we're living on borrowed time. I'm having a very difficult time losing some great friends I've known since growing up. I've lost a good many over the years. |
