I've had two borrowers tell me in the past two weeks they or their significant other was under the weather, running a fever, and/or waiting for COVID test results. Test results are taking 12 days to return in Indiana since the state is seeing record cases again.
The lender rescheduled the first borrower 14 days later and I declined the assignment. If they test positive and are having symptoms, 14 days won't be long enough because the average COVID case takes longer than two weeks to resolve. They could be shedding the virus for up to 6 weeks.
The second borrower let me confirm the appointment time, valid IDs, witness requirement, and then let me know her significant other has had a low-grade fever for two weeks but hasn't been tested and if I thought it was okay to do the signing. I told her both she and her significant other need to get tested because if I did their signing I would have to self-quarantine, get tested, and return all the assignments I have scheduled.
