did one mid-February. I was supposed to sign the son and daughter-in-law and the son's parents one Saturday morning. I get there and the sons says, "My mom's kind of a hypochondriac. My wife is just getting over being sick. She's been travelling a lot lately to Italy for work. But, my mom refuses to be around us. She's afraid of germs/viruses. So, will you sign us then go down the street to my Dad's office and sign them?" Now, this was before COVID 19 was barely a whisper. The wife did look sick, however, she stated she had no fever. Nice they tell me this after I've sat down and set up. But, it was before all the COVID 19 uproar, so, just got it done....no masks, no gloves, kept a little distance across a big table. Well, Dad's office was two cities over. The son told me to just give copy package to his dad....he could care less about having one. Anyway, walked in Dad's office and he immediately apologized for the inconvenience. He said, "I've already called escrow and authorized you to be paid $150 for signing my son and daughter-in-law and $200 for my wife and I." Dad is a high-profile commercial investor, had reviewed all the docs online, they signed in 20 minutes and passed me some hand sanitizer.
By the grace of God, I did not catch any "germs/virus" from them all.
Moral of the story....sometimes you just gotta go with the flow and get the job done. Had I known then what I know now about COVID 19 probably would have been a different outcome. Be safe, work out the money, keep good clients happy.
Glad you were able to work out the fee with your client. Good job, well done. Apologies for sort of a hijack of the thread. |
