Don’t count your chickens before your eggs are hatched. First, pain and suffering is awarded only AFTER an accident — not the case here. Second, you can take the company to court and awarded a judgment; however, that judgment is simply a piece of paper. It doesn’t guarantee that you will get paid. Once judgment is entered, the court does not go after the debtor — it’s all on you to collect your money. Should the company file bankruptcy, the judgment might put you higher up on the list of creditors, but still, depending on assets and number of creditors, you could still end up with nothing. A judgment is certainly not the golden egg many believe it to be. |
