This sounds more Trumpian than Trump, except that Trump may adhere closer to the truth than this poster. By the numbers:

1. Sen. Warren claimed Native American ancestry because she and her siblings had been told that all their lives.
2. A DNA test disclosed that Native American ancestry was minimal, some 6-10 generations back.
3. Warren never benefitted financially from her error, nor were any Native Americans deprived of any benefits. There may have been some intangible advantage to the schools who claimed Native American faculty because of her.
4. Neither Harvard nor any of the other four law schools where she taught hired her as a member of a minority; she was hired as a white professor, according to a quite thorough investigation by the Boston Globe.
5. Sen. Warren did apologize to Native Americans if any of her statements gave the impression she was an enrolled tribe member, rather than just a person who had a long-ago Cherokee ancestor.

As someone who, with his three siblings, spent most of his adult as the descendent of an alleged Cherokee grandmother and a half Cherokee grandfather, only to discover by DNA after six decades that the grandfather was a family myth, I can relate.

I guess that makes me cut from the same dishonorable stock as Elizabeth Warren. If so, I will wear that identificati hon every bit as proudly as I wear my Cherokee ancestry. We phony Indians do stick together, you know.
