I think that could be the least intrusive way of remembering her, of doing something in her honor, as Marilynn said. I don't think it would really require much organizing, just posting the name of an organization and hopefully a link to make donations in her name. (That might just take a little organizing with the charity.)
If anyone feels comfortable finding this information, please post to let us know you're working on it so the family doesn't have to field requests from multiple people. And then just let us all know in a new post. Thanks in advance!
BTW, if we're not able to find out anything, I might suggest the American Cancer Society. I'd be happy to do a little research with them to see if there's a specific process to follow.
