So not true, but it's MSN..go figure

I can tell you from living here that slideshow of 51 is probably as truthful as Mickey Mouse being a real mouse. Orlando is BOOMING right now. I don't see any foreclosures, the housing market is on fire, affordable rental housing cannot be found, and once average $125,000 house is now going for almost triple that. We had a ton of new companies and growth from the Space development companies 25 miles east of here atthe Cape to the expansion of the theme aprks and a new theme park to the west of us, to the largest cruise port in the state to our east under construction to house the worlds largest cruise ship. I don't see anyone suffering, employment is low, new housing is everywhere, minimum wages going up to $15.00 most places. I sort of wish things to slow down, I am in the market to buy, but waiting, and not seeing anything slowing down for a long time, and certianly no foreclosures out there.

I grew up in WI and talk about mosquito's and I am sure MN is just as bad from all the lakes. From all my time living here I have never seen anything like up north where they swarm like bees AND horse flies and deer flies and No See Um's and ticks. Everything bites like hell up there no matter what it is. We have lizards and many birds year round who keep them under control. I can't tell you the last time I had a mosquito bite. They do spray certian areas if they become a problem as they do carry diseases such as encehpalitus and other tropical diseases. Living in WI, I had 30-40 bites on me all summer long. We do have the larger creepy crawlys as Palmeto bugs, centipedes, golden orb spiders, but it tropical and nature. NO big deal, it's sort of amazing.

Humidity = tropics, and only really noticable form May thru Sept.. I don't notice it much as our dew point usually always at 60+, but I guess coming from a dry climate where you have chapped lips and cracked heels, you may. I don't know about mildew and mold, you must have been in a crappy hotel without ventilation, I have not expereinced that. Yes we do have gators as do all southern states, and we do post warnings for tourists who think it's okay to dive into freshwater lakes and not be aware or wade around. The ammobias will kill you faster than a gator will. I have found and still amazed at seeing a gator in a lake. Visitors LOVE seeing our natural nature and needs to be respected. We have dolphins, we have manatees, we have a ton of gorgeous birds such as blue herons and all the troical shore line birds and bald eagles. I can go on and on about the real natural beauty here in each of our states 4-5 distinct areas, but don't want to bore you to death of how gorgeous FL really is.

Florida does NOT require witnesses on our mortgages for the 99% of them. I believe there are 3 counties that do their own things here and do require them for county recording, but not anywhere where I have ever had to. It's not the norm. They only require witnesses on "deeds" of every kind, such as a Quit Claim, a Warranty Deed, and Yes, a notary can be one of the witnesses. If you have instructions that you need 2 witness that is a lender thing, but not a requirement. You have to follow what the lender wants, just like anything else. Florida does not have a DOT, only a mortgage. Not sure where you pulled all that information, but much is inaccurate.

Anyway, hope that clears things up, and want to defend my beautiful state and clear up misconceptions of "requirements" here. So not true. The only troubled city I see coming could be Maimi and area and their infrastructure. All their pipes are corroding under the massive skyline as the water levels are encroaching up over the roads, especially during king tides. They are feeling that pinch all up and down the southeast coastline as oceans are warming, water is rising...that will not be an easy fix.
Florida may and is shrinking. Growing up it was always California falling into the Pacific from earthquakes. It's a race to doom and gloom, lol...STILL better than 20- and shoveling snow and freezing to death!
