I posting off my phone. No electricity, no internet yet. The only good thing is great weather now. My home is great shape compared to most. Minor flooding in the laundry room that was kept in check with a container and towels. I had sand bags by the door which helped emensley. The only window I didn't replace last year leaked like crazy, so on the list to get replaced. My yard about 15" under water in the front, at high stage about 10 from the door. I lost he only tree I had due to wind and just ground saturation but didn't do any damage as was about 20' tall by the carport. Our highest wind about 80 mph, sustained about 60 I am guessing. My neighbor across the street has power, so Ithey offered to run me a line here. What a blessing. I didn't lose my aquarium and the 2 cannisters filters, the refrigerator is on and have a TV plugged into it and phone charger when needed. They say should be back on by the 4th. The landscape of Florida has changed for sure. I never experienced quite the flooding. They say historical a 500 year event. Flood zones will be changing, and I cringe over our new insurance rates after this one. Time will tell how this hurricane changes things. Usually new codes happen, people build back better and smarter.
Wishing all those impacted safety and a quick recovery. |
