There is one company in particular who makes it very clear their lender wants 2 witnesses on their FL mortgages. I only had one, which was me, and called it good when we could not find anyone and guess what? I had to go and get it resigned requiring an additional witness, unrelated. Even though it's not the law in FL to have any witnesses on a mortgage, sometimes it is what the lender wants, and they get their way. Most do not want immediate family members either...you just have to sort of navigate your companies and know what they like. It is not a law however, but the lender always gets their way on their loans, especially when disclosed in their instructions. It's the borrower's responsibility to produce this, so when you initiate contact, let them know they need to have an unrelated witness over the age of 18 stop by along with their photocopies of ID's and such. |
