Was just going down to accounting to drop off some paperwork. Anyway, just me, another gal, and one guy. It gets really HOT in the elevator with no air circulating and the lights beaming down on you. Used the emergency phone and the operator said..."We can have someone there by 7:30 P. M. tonight. Hang in there." It was 3:30 P.M. in the afternoon. About 6:00, the guy in the elevator realized he had his car keys on him. So, he gingerly used his key to try and pry the door open. He was able to get the door open. We could see we were between floors with about a 3.5' drop to the next floor. He said, "I'll hold the door open, if you gals want to sit on the edge and jump to the next floor." The other gal said, "Oh, no. I'm too scared." I said, "Get out of my way." At which point, I pitched my pumps and suit jacket, hiked my straight skirt up a bit, sat on the edge, and jumped to the next floor. Sprained my ankle a bit. Held the door open for the guy, he jumped out, in turn coaxed the other gal out and caught her. We took the stairs back to our respective offices, got our purses, and took the stairs down and home.
Would not recommend this method of escape....kinda risky. |
