Are you a notary and are they asking you to help them? Keep in mind that we are not attorneys and cannot give legal advice. In my state, that means we're not allowed to get involved in selecting or preparing any documents, either. Or do they already have a document prepared that they want you to notarize for her?

If the latter, keep in mind that as a notary, we're only identifying the signer and witnessing the signature. The content of the document is none of our business. The only thing I'd be concerned about in that type of situation is whether or not the mother was of sound mind and able to clearly express her wishes. Proving any of the details or particulars in the document itself is way above our pay grade and NOT something we should get involved with - unless there's something specific in the notary laws of your state that indicate otherwise.
