I notarized several Grant Deeds for someone today who told me the same thing - office is closed. Her husband is an attorney, so he probably knows the ropes (and she sounded like she did, too). She said their only option was to overnight them (to get the fasted service possible). Walking in isn't an option. I don't know if that's just our county, or just the remote County Recorder office that's located near us. I haven't had a chance to look into it.
