If you're concerned about ethnicity in your technology and it being Asia-based, you may want to reconsider using any of it. Consider not only where your products are developed but where they are manufactured/who manufactures them (including the individual parts), where they are assembled and who assembles them and where and who maintains/updates them.
Insofar as other PDF readers, there are many. Google "PDF readers" to find. But, be careful. Many of the engineers for the leading technology companies are Asian.
