I work quite a bit with Inspire and Mortgage Connect. When I registered with them, I told them my fees -- not the other way around. They pay within 2 weeks (on direct deposit). I cover a large territory. My fee schedule is set up (in spreadsheet) by county then by zip code and by city/town; each town is assigned a specific fee. If I'm called to go into snow county during the winter and I feel comfortable driving my all-wheel drive SUV in those conditions, my fees increase due to hazardous conditions and caller is advised of same. They usually agree.
They have recently instituted a blast notice system with low fees, not allowing for fee negotiation. HOWEVER ... they still do call with job offers and are ready to pay MY fees. In fact, I have 2 signings with them today and 1 tomorrow - all local signings for very good, professional fees.
We all just have to learn to be business owners and state and stick to our fees. We are, after all, the service provider.
