There was also some Program where the borrower would get a 2nd mortgage and put the $ in some type of account that was suppose to pay off all their debts in some wonderful way. I don't remember all the details, but a friend did try it once. The notary would get a commission from the sale of this so called Program, and they were to solicit the borrowers when they were closing the 1st mortgage refi. I think this was around 2010 or so, just as we were coming out of that mortgage crisis.
