Yep, recent gas prices here are a real shocker. On my way home yesterday, regular gas at the station closest to me was $5.99/gal! I think I paid $5.25 at Costco (usually ~$.30- $.35/gal cheaper than most) a few days before. I don't believe I've ever paid more than $5.00/a gal there until now.
A few moments later, I heard a radio report saying that, even though we're coming off the summer blend here (which usually means lower prices), gas prices are up all over the state. They said it's due to a combination of refinery issues within the state and worldwide shortages in production from OPEC, specifically Libya, recently devastated by horrendous flooding.
I guess I should just be grateful that I don't live downstream from a dam break, flooding an entire city and killing at least 11,000, what appears to be more than 25% of its residents... 🙁
