Cannot notarize a document in which notary is named?
Posted by VT_Syrup of VT on 2/12/24 3:14pm Msg #647748
In Msg #647745 Linda H/FL wrote "a notary cannot notarize a document in which they are named or in which they have an interest." I agree with the "have an interest" part.

I put this in a new thread because I have nothing to say about powers of attorney. But I can think of a case where a notary could notarize a document that contains the notary's name. Once the Office of Professional Regulation makes the rules, I'll be allowed to make a paper certified copy of a document that I electronically notarized. Of course, that will include the electronic notarial certificate that has my name in it.
