My sincere condolences on the loss of your Mom. You made the time to care for Mom when she most needed you. Thank you for that! Now it's time to take care of you.
You've been reading the forum so you know biz is slow -- although, I can honestly say I've gotten many calls, texts and emails this week for signings. Some were turned away due to low fees; others, I was already booked for that slot and were not flexible and happily, I was able to accept others. 
Sounds like you've also been networking. You're not new to business and know how to market and keep your name out there. Good job! Reach out to all your contacts and let 'em know you're back in the saddle and ready to accommodate their signings.
As to the "bad actors" ... if you read this forum, java 'site and NSA facebook group, you'll find that data base has grown.
