Filing police reports for Home Depot and other odd jobs
Posted by FlaNotary2 of FL on 6/25/24 5:37am Msg #648723
I received an offer today from an inspection service to “file police reports for Home Depot” for $100.

Now I know many here may say this is fine work and would jump at the opportunity. But at what point do we, as sworn officers of the state, ask ourselves - does this job offer degrade the public office I hold?

If you want to advertise yourself as a Jack of all trades who will take any job that comes along, why do you even need to be a notary? It is a privilege to hold the office of Notary Public. I don’t see any other public officers doing these types of odd jobs. I don’t mean to sound conceited but this job offer is beneath all of us. Until we start respecting the office of Notary Public we cannot expect respect from anyone else, including our state legislators.

Just my opinion.
