Just from what I'm reading, and the way I read it, the oldest son is not necessarily much better than his brothers. He hasn't seen his Mom in 5 years and only lives a few hours away. Wow. Granted, he doesn't have investigations going on but still. I can't imagine not seeing my Parents (Thankfully, still living) for 5 years. I am aware that different families have different dynamics.
