LD, going to sort of disagree on two points. 1. "The only problem I see with that is who's going to stay and protect THEIR own country?"
If those who helped us remain in their country, they ar high priority targets for the Taliban. They will be rounde up, tortured and die a very painful death.
2. "enlist in our military in non-essential or not high priority roles maybe the National Guard..."
Since the inception of the all volunteer services, National Guard and reservists have picked up the slack for our regular army, marines, etc. I have a friend in the Air National Guard who has been deployed to Afganistan 3 times in the last 4 years.
We cannot just abandon those people who helped us or the next time and place no one will come to help us.
